Wines of the Month

Rutini ‘Encuentro’ Malbec 2016

Looking at our food menus, Malbec wines make a lot of sense – this one is a special Wine of the Month feature!

The intense and clean garnet red color of the Rutini ‘Encuentro’ Malbec makes you want to smell it right away and the aromas of floral violets, fresh red / black berries and cherries and some cedar wood won’t disappoint at all, and in fact, are very inviting.

On the palate the rich velvety and sweet tannins coat the mouth with deep red fruit compote/marmalade flavors, some dark cocoa powder, full-bodied but never heavy and with a nice acidity that carries the flavors for a while and also promises a long life in the bottle. A very complex and delicious experience that lingers and would pair well with beef stew, grilled red meats, lamb or duck. ¡Buen provecho!

Rutini ‘Encuentro’ Chardonnay 2016

Expect a wine with a very pretty nose where aromas of yellow apples and green bananas dominate, a note of oaky vanilla, fine ground white pepper and a hint of thyme are also present before tasting this Chardonnay by the renown winery Rutini in Tupungato, a region in Mendoza’s Valle de Uco.

The color is a beautiful saturated yellow with green shades so it is not surprising that the mouthfeel is bright and briny reflecting the color of the wine with yellow golden apple, citrus, pink grapefruit and some salted green apple, green melon and a firm and tight finish that carries those flavors through until the end.

Pair it with chicken empanadas, grilled chicken with mushrooms and thyme, chicken or pasta dishes with creamy sauces, or pork chops. All kinds of pork dishes would be perfect as well.
