March 20th marks the spring equinox, which means spring is officially—how do you say?—in the air. No longer the bitter cold of a 60 degree winter day, not quite the unbearable heat of a South Florida summer, yes—it’s the perfect time of year.

Trumpeter Malbec-Syrah 2016 by Rutini Wines is a special one.
It blends two wonderful grapes together (50% Malbec/50% Syrah)
to make a very exciting deep ruby red wine.
Grapes collected from the high elevation vineyards in Tupungato
at the foothills of the Andes produce a fragrant wine with aromas
of red fruit like redcurrant and even strawberry alternating with
spicy and peppery notes on the nose.
The palate has a smoky, baked vanilla undertone, a touch of tobacco
and wild berries which makes this Malbec/Syrah blend a delicious taste adventure. Sweet and soft tannins give this medium bodied wine
a long and round finish.
Drink it now or in the next 3 years and pair it with game or rabbit dishes,
a classic cassoulet with chickpeas or white beans and everything
from a torta pasqualina to empanadas or quiche.
