Viña Las Perdices is one of our favorite wineries in Argentina’s Mendoza region. At an altitude of 1.030 meters above sea level (about 3,380ft) in the dry mountain desert climate of the village of Lujan de Cuyo, close to the city limits of Mendoza, winemakers are getting the best out of this french grape varietal. It loves cool nights but needs the dry and warm sunny days it never quite got enough of in France. . It is no surprise that today, over 75% of the worldwide Malbec production comes from Argentina.

So here we are with a complex and very attractive-looking red wine. The beautiful and intense dark violet to crimson red color with bright magenta rims is an inviting first impression and a good beginning.

Great aromas and flavors of raspberries, plum, violet flowers, brown sugar, chocolate, spices, and herbs are backed up by notes of vanilla and coffee from the careful aging for 12 months in new American and French oak barrels. This ensures smooth tannins on the sweeter side, creating a great play of complexity with the fruit-forward juiciness that is also very present and extending this Malbec into a long and persistent finish that makes the Las Perdices Malbec Riserva a full-bodied and powerful wine. It stays on your palate for quite a long time and can last in the cellar for at least another 5 to 7 years. Trying it over a 3-4 day period, it was also great to see that it stayed very fresh and vibrant throughout the whole time, changing yet keeping its fruit and opening up a little more after a while. This is just one of the signs of good quality winemaking during the harvest, the vinification, and the aging process of this very delicious and food-friendly Malbec.

Malbec Riserva 2019 will be just the right wine to accompany grilled meat with vegetables, substantial pasta dishes even with tomato-based sauces, a good hearty stew, or hard cheeses. It is also worth pointing out here that this is a lot of wine for the price of the bottle.

Indulge in the exquisite flavors of Malbec – an unforgettable taste experience!
